The RISE Lab at UC Irvine Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health is dedicated to understanding and addressing health disparities among minoritized and immigrant communities. Our research focuses on the structural, social, and policy factors that shape health outcomes, with an emphasis on health equity.
We investigate questions such as:
- How do immigration status and exclusionary/inclusionary policies affect health care utilization and outcomes?
- How do social determinants, such as food access, economic resources, and childhood experiences, influence health among marginalized communities?
- What interventions can reduce disparities and improve health equity?
Our work combines quantitative and policy-focused research with a commitment to translating findings into actionable insights for communities, health systems, and policymakers. We value interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and training the next generation of scholars passionate about social and health equity.
